AFCON Qualifier: Akwa-Ibom Governor Throws Gate Open For Nigeria Vs Sao Tome And Principe Match

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has thrown the gate open for fans coming to watch the Africa Cup of Nations
( AFCON 2023) qualification match between Nigeria and São Tomé and Principe, scheduled to kick off at 5:00pm this Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in , Uyo, the state capital

The State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports,  Monday Ebong Uko who announced  this in a statement, said that Governor Eno graciously purchased 25,000 more tickets in addition  to the 5,000 free tickets earlier purchased by him for the 30,000 capacity seater  stadium

"All 30,000 tickets for the match are therefore to be issued FREE to all spectators to access the stadium for the match. No one should BUY tickets for the match", he stated

He advised fans wishing to watch the last qualifier between Super Eagles and their opponents from Sao-Tome And Principe   to come to the Stadium before 4:00pm and be issued a free ticket at the gate.

This gesture by the Pastor Umo Eno's administration is to encourage Nigerians including residents of the state to come out en masse and cheer the Super Eagles on to victory.

There had been high demand for match tickets since the announcement of sales, before the Governor eventually purchased tickets on behalf of fans interested in watching the match live from the stadium

The Super Eagles have qualified for the forthcoming AFCON in Coted'Ivoire in 2024, after beating Sierra Leone 3-2 on the road and just need a draw in the match to finish top of the group

It will be recalled that the Portuguese, Paseiro  tutored side thrashed Sao Tome And Principe side in the first leg, recording historic massive  10-0 win
