Team Ogun female football team on Sunday began their campaign for gold medal at the ongoing 7th National Youth Games in Asaba , Delta State on a smooth note
The team trashed their Adamawa counter-part 5-0 in the encounter which saw Damilola Adeyanju grabbing a hat-trick
Similarly in table tennis event, Team Ogun qualified in groups 9, 12, and 15 (boys) as well as in the female category, 4 and 8 respectively
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had earlier declared open the 7th edition of the National Youth Games holding in the Delta State capital, urging youths from the 36 states competing at the games, to promote the spirit of friendship among them
The President who was represented by the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, urged all state officials and athletes to compete with the spirit of fairness and togetherness, while putting the interests of the nation first.
Events at the Games are holding between September 23rd - 30th, 2023 across multiple venues in the Delta state capital.
More than 5,742 athletes from the 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory will compete for medals in 35 different sports.
