Ogun State Water Corporation has assured its customers of effective service to them ,through the provision of adequate water supply to homes and organisations.
The Acting General Manager of the Corporation, Mrs. Muinat Jaji, gave the assurance during an on-the-spot assessment tour of the management team of the Corporation to some corporate organisations, who are receiving their services, such as Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Aro, Rock-City 101.9Fm Radio Station and Stella Obasanjo Children’s home, Ibara Housing Estate, all in Abeokuta, the State capital
Other areas visited include Arakanga Water Treatment Plant and Oke Temidire Reservoir within the city
Mrs. Jaji stated that it was imperative for the Corporation to ascertain the situation regarding water supply to the nooks and crannies of the State, and find a way of serving the people better.
She said, "Purpose of this visit is to intimate our customers that we are fully back to providing and supplying clean potable water, and to know the volume of water needed by some of our customers in order to serve them better since water is life and essential’’.
The Acting General Manager appreciated the efforts of the State government for the provision of necessary assistance to enhance its operations for efficiency while soliciting the cooperation of the populace to avoid wastage and prompt recharge of water, saying water production is capital intensive.
In his remarks, the Medical Director, FMC, Prof. Adewale Musa-Olomu lauded the Corporation for restoring water supply to the hospital after over 30 years of inadequate supply, affirming that "water is running now and there is adequate distribution in all units of the hospital, it is drinkable’’.
He noted that the Corporation had helped the institution to save millions of naira through the provision of adequate, cheap, safe water supply and promised to reciprocate the gesture by paying water bills promptly.
On his part, the Provost and Medical Director, Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, Dr. Afis Agboola also appreciated the team for relieving the hospital of difficulties experienced due to the topography of the area, pointing out that over 30 industrial boreholes had been sunk in search of potable water.
In his remarks, the Area Secretary for Egba Parapo Area Community Development Committee, Prince Adeniyi Adekunle, said the construction of the reservoir at Oke Temidire in Abeokuta South Local Government Area by the Corporation had enabled people of the community to enjoy adequate water supply.
