Ogun State House of Assembly has invited the State Accountant General, Babatunde Aregbesola and members of the State Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) to investigate the alleged diversion of Local Government funds resulting into zero allocations to the Local Government Councils in the State.

Chairman of the Ijebu-East Local Government, Hon.Wale Adedayo who has been suspended by the legislative arm of the council on Thursday, had sent opened letter to former governor, Aremo Olusegun Osoba in which he accused Governor Dapo Abiodun's administration of diverting monthly allocation of the 20 Local Governments from the Federation Account since 2021

The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Olakunle Oluomo presiding over the plenary session of the lawmakers on Thursday at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta ,asked the Accountant General for the state and other members of JAAC  , to appear before the house  this  Friday, 1st September, 2023 at 1:00pm.

Olumo, who explained that the invitation was premised on Section 128(2) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), added that the State House of Assembly was empowerd to investigate and take necessary actions to expose corrupt practices.

According to him, the invitation became imperative given the myriad of messages and mails received from different quarters regarding the Federal Allocation to Local Government Councils in the State.

He further appealed to the people of the State, especially residents of Ijebu East Local Government Area to maintain peace and orderliness with an assurance that the Assembly would perform its statutory duties in line with the rule of law.
