118 To Bag First Class Bachelor's Degree, 113 To Get PhD As FUNAAB Holds 30th Convocation




No fewer than one hundred and eighteen (118 )graduands will be graduating with first class bachelor's degree while one hundred and thirteen  113 post graduate students will be conferred with Doctor of Phyllosophy Degree  at the 30th convocation of the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta  (FUNAAB) holding this Friday and Saturday, August 11 and 12, 2023.

Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof.Olusola Babatunde Kehinde who revealed this at a media briefing on Thursday, said that the convocation  would commence by 10am at the Prof Olufemi Balogun Ceremonial Hall, where a total of 2,823 graduands would be conferred with bachelor's degree in various colleges of the institution

According to him, one thousand and ninety-five (1,095) graduands will bag second class upper division degree, one thousand, three hundred and ninety-seven (1,397) second class lower division, one hundred and eighty-eight (188) third class while the rest are Doctor of Veterinary Medicine 

The Vice-Chancellor also disclosed that convocation for the post graduate students would hold on Saturday at the same venue and time where sixteen (16)of them would bag Post Graduate Diploma while two hundred and fifteen (215) other would be conferred with Master's Degrees in  departments across colleges in the 35year-old institution

He revealed that the Convocation lecture would be delivered on Saturday by former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili




 Also ten different capital projects were commissioned on the Alabata main campus of the university by dignitaries and prominent traditional rulers including Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewa land, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, Olowu of Owu-Abeokuta, Oba(Prof.) Saka Adelola Matemilola, Ajalaye of Ilugun South Ijebu from Ijebu North East Local Government,Oba Emmanuel Ademola Oluseyi 












The inherited projects completed by Prof Olusola Kehinde tenure within five months, include three 300-seater lecture theatre , different hostel facilities for both undergraduate and post graduate students modern abbatoir equipped with the state of the art facilities for slaughtering of animals and packaging of beef and frozen chicken in commercial quantity to serve as additional revenue base for the university





The Vice-Chancellor was full of praises for the immeasurable contributions of both academic and non-academic staff to the recent ranking of FUNAAB as the best public university in Nigeria and top 26 in sub-sahara Africa by a globally recognized rating organization

He assured that the university would continue sustain its high academic standard in the areas of research and development of human capital inline with the core mandate of developing agriculture and boosting foods production in the country, saying the institution will sustain its robust engagement with stakeholders within its host community for meaningful economic impact on the lives of the people
