Proprietor of Anu-Olu Group Of Schools, a leading co-educational private school in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, Alhaji (Hon.) Semiu Bola Lawal has unfolded the plan of the management of the institution to introduce the use of Yoruba Language to compliment the use of English Language in teaching subjects as from the beginning of the 2023/2024 academic year
Lawal who was speaking on Saturday during a valedictory service/send forth for the 2022/2023 session graduating students of Anu-Olu International College,located at Onikolobo Road in the ancient city, said that the introduction of mother-tongue language such as Yoruba Language in teaching subjects in classrooms was to enhance learning and protect the language from going into extinction
He also urged parents to be interested in the upbringing of their children, stressing the need for them to pay regular unscheduled visit to school, meet with their class teachers to know how well they are doing in school
Chairman of the event and President of Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation, Alhaji Dapo Wahab in his valedictory service lecture on the roles of schools to checkmate drugs abuse among Youths in the country, cautioned the graduands against being lured into taking of hard drugs capable of destroying their bright future
He cited commonly abused drugs among youths in Nigeria to include Colorado, Tramadol, Marijuana (Indian hemp) warning them to steer clear of these hard drugs and avoid being influenced by pressure from peers groups in the neighbourhood or in school
The guest speaker equally stressed the roles of schools as well as parents and community leaders in curbing the disturbing trend of drugs abuse among students and youths and ensuring a drug free society
The event was spiced up with cultural displayed by students from Junior Secondary School and pupils of the primary section of the school as well as dance exhibition and other display
High point of the valedictory service was the presentation of prizes to outstanding graduands at both junior and senior secondary classes as well as gifts to the graduands
Twenty -eight graduands from Senior Secondary Class three, seventeen in the Junior Secondary Class three as well as six from primary section and twelve from nursery section of the school participated in this year's valedictory service
Anu-Olu International College in the past years of its existence has continued to sustain its vision of being a prime contributor of excellence in academic and moral upbringing of youth by producing committed , independent and morally sound students who shall be leaders of tomorrow
