NANS Suspends Protest Over Killing Of TASUED Student





National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) has suspended its earlier protest against the alleged killing of Oladipupo Adebayo, a 300 level  student of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED ) Ijagun Ijebu-Ode, slated for this Monday at both Oke-Mosan, Ogun State Government Secretariat and Benin-Ore Expressway 

The students' apex body announced the suspension of the protest in a memo obtained by Edu-biznews on Monday which was jointly signed by leaders of the association including Chairman, NANS JCC/Ogun Axis,Comrade Damilola Kehinde, NAOSS National President, Comrade Ogunrombi Gbemileke.NANS National PRO, Comrade Giwa Yisa, Deputy Senate President,NANS National.Comrade Elvis Ekundina, National President, Progressive Students Movement,,
Comrade Bestman Okereafor and 
Chairman, National Association of University Students, Ogun CMC. Comrade Wasiu Lawal.

NANS explained that the protest was suspended, following the released of arrested students and arrest of Baale of Imaweje  after its meeting with top police chiefs as well as Special Adviser on Security Matters to the governor and Consultant to Ogun State Government on Security Matters and former Ogun CP; Mr. Edward Ajogun. 

The association claimed that the meeting agreed with its below demands:

"All our students that were unjustly held in custody have now been released"

"Baale of Imaweje has now been arrested.The Police are conducting a thorough and unbiased investigation".

"A public condemnation of the unfortunate incident have been published by the state government"

'"A powerful state delegation to condole with the deceased family have been activated. They're to meet the family on June 5th, 2023'.

"A Worthy compensation for the bereaved family is also now being discussed'

The leadership of the students movement  commended the roles of top security operatives in the whole crisis between the students and host community and agreed to suspend its planned protest until further notice, vowing to channel its energy on tracking down the assailants behind the killing of the 300level student 

"In light of the above, and in the spirit of comradeship, the proposed protest at Benin-Ore Expressway and Governor's Office, Oke Mosan is hereby suspended till further notice"

"Our attention is now fully focused on the apprehension of some other assailants who are still at large and the onward prosecution of the infamous Baale"

"We must sincerely commend the commitment, cooperation and support from all security agencies since the beginning of this struggle. We extend our gratitude most especially to the DSS, Ogun State Command, the Nigeria Police and the Nigeria Army for their sacrificial service to humanity," the association concluded in its memo.
