The authorities of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) Abeokuta have threatened to expell any of its students who dressed indecently, caught in unholy act such as cultism and examination malpractices or found to be indisciplined
Rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji read the riot act during 2022/2023 administration of oath and matriculation of newly admitted students for both the National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes, held on Thursday inside the Otunba Gbenga Daniel Main Auditorium of the Ogun State Government owned Institution
Odedeji who warned that the institution would not tolerate anyform of unruly conduct, stressed the need for the new students to always conduct themselves properly and be focused on their studies, by taking advantage of the Institution's highly qualified academic staff, including over 100 PhD holders who are always ready to impart knowledge to them
The Rector urged the students particularly those who are in National Diploma programmes to make sure that acquire mandatory additional skills in various vocational programmes available at the polytechnic's newly constructed Centre for Entrepreneurship Skills Development which is being properly equipped with N130million provided by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund(TETFUND) of the Federal Government of Nigeria
According to him, "the polytechnic inline with the Federal Government's mandate will begin to run vocational training as from next academic session for every student in National Diploma programmes and each of the students will be issued with certificate by the National Board for Technical and Business Education (NABTEB) for acquiring additional skills in chosen vocational programme"
Odedeji rated MAPOLY as among the best tertiary institutions in the country whose products are excelling in various fields of human endeavour including the media industry, engineering and most expecially in accounting profession where one of its pioneer graduates in the Department of Accountancy , Dr. Oluwatoyin Madein is now the Accountant General of the Federation
He urged the fresh students to always be good ambassadors of the Institution where ever they find themselves in future just like their predecessors who are doing well after completion of various academic programmes
The ceremony were witnessed by top officials of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) led by the State Co-ordinator, Mr.Hakeem Abdul-Amin who represented the Registrar of the board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede
