Workers have shutdown the Ogun State House of Assembly's Complex to compel the State Government to begin the implementation of Consolidated Legislative Salary Structure
The State Chairman of Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) ,Comrade Ayotunde Ojediran in an interview with newsmen at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta on Thursday, says that the workers are on a warning strike over failure of the Prince Dapo Abiodun's administration to pay the salary structure to them just like their counterpart in the judiciary arm of the government are enjoying such consolidated package
Ojediran also accused the State Government of non-compliance with sections 10 (2), 13, and 14 of Statutory Offices State Emoluments Law 2018 and the State Assembly Service Commission Law 2018
According to him, Clerk of the House, his deputy and Secretary to the State House of Assembly Service Commission are not enjoying allowances and other benefits due to them as provided in the Statutory Offices State Emoluments and that of the State Assembly Service Commission as approved by the immediate past administration of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun
He expressed concern that parliamentary staffers in the state were not enjoying the improved welfare packages in the consolidated salary structure already being enjoyed by their colleagues in Kogi, Zamfara, Gombe and Jigawa States amongst others
Ojediran however added that the union had given government till end of this month to respond to the demands of the striking workers, warning that the workers would be
mobilized to go on indefinite strike
Continous strike by the workers will destrupt the activities of the lawmakers who will be having their valedictory service for the 9th legislature and inauguration of the 10th legislature
