Periodic Training Is Key To Efficiency In Schools- Ogun TESCOM Boss

Ogun State Teaching Service Commission has identified periodic training and capacity development for clerical officers as necessary for effectiveness and efficiency at the workplace, particularly in schools

Chairman of the agency, Evang. Olalekan Ifede who made this known at a Day training organised for 331 Clerical Officers across the 20 Local Government Areas of the State, at the Oba’s Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, stated that the event was necessary to enhance professionalism which would improve productivity.

Speaking on the theme of the training, “New Leadership and Management Strategy in Pursuit of Positive Change and Better Service Delivery”, the Commission boss said leadership and management are keys in every organisation, adding that a firm knowledge of how an office could be better run, would yield better result and enhance efficiency at workplace.

"The success of a system does not lie on the leadership alone. Everyone within the value chain has a role to play and that is why we have extended this initiative to clerical officers", he said.

The Permanent Secretary, TESCOM, Dr. Abdul Waheed Olanloye in his address charged participants to constantly upgrade their knowledge, saying it would keep them relevant and above board.

 The facilitator, a Senior Administrative Officer in the Monitoring and Evaluation Department, Ministry of Agriculture, Mrs. Kehinde Jaiyeola, who spoke on civil service discipline and establishment matters, urged participants to be punctual at work, have good work ethics, obey the rules and have good relations with co-workers.

 In his remark, the Chairman, Non-Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (NASU), Comrade Olumide Oduneye said the training was key to personnel productivity and would expand the knowledge of participants.

Participants in their responses, Mr. Olujimi Taiwo of Methodist High School, Ewekoro and Mrs. Adeyemi Amuda, of Igbore High School, Abeokuta South Local Government appreciated TESCOM for the training, describing it as a commendable initiative that had counted clerical officers worthy.
