Ogun Govt Seeks Partnership With NAFDAC On Campaign Against Adultrated Products

Ogun State Government has called for more effective collaboration with the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), in order to rid the State of adulterated products and further aid the growth of the economy.

The State Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe made the call during the official commissioning of the new NAFDAC Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, stating that a stronger synergy with the Agency would help boost the industrial growth, currently being experienced under the present administration, while also helping to build a healthy population.

Represented by the Director, Industrial Promotion, Engr. Kehinde Akintomide, Longe lauded NAFDAC for its efforts so far, calling on the agency not to rest on its oars as it regulates food and other consumables in line with its mandate.

 “I congratulate the DG of NAFDAC for coming up with a befitting edifice like this. This no doubt is in line with the agenda of the State government and it has really added to the beauty of the State. It is good to combine beauty with effectiveness, efficiency and better service delivery to our industries. I just want to call on NAFDAC not to rest on its oars. We look forward to having a more efficient and effective collaboration with your organization,” Longe said.

 In her address, Director General, NAFDAC, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye said the Agency had constructed the Abeokuta Office as well as six other Offices across the country to provide the enabling environment for its staff and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) so as to enhance service delivery adding that NAFDAC has become a more customer-focused Agency that puts the interest of the country first.

Adeyeye, who appreciated the State government for its support said the Agency was already working on attaining Maturity Level four with some special functions in the World Health Organisation (WHO) global ranking which would enable it to trade globally, adding that the Agency is currently one of only 30 percent of 194 agencies in the world that are on Maturity Level three on the WHO global ranking.

Speaking on behalf of the Industries, Quality Assurance Manager, in one of the Distillers companies, Ngozi Mbonuike said the construction of the new NAFDAC Office was timely, adding that many industries had challenges moving their goods to the regulatory body’s Office at the Federal Secretariat, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
