Ogun Govt Inaugurates Working Group On Labour Market To Reduce Unemployment Rate




Ogun State Government has inaugurated a Technical Working Group (TWG) on Labour Market Information System (LMIS) to fashion out ways on how unemployed youths can be gainfully employed and help the State to maximise the benefits of having the highest number of industries in the country

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment 
Dr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola who  inaugurated the committee inside conference room, Oke-Mosan, 
says despite the vast opportunities in the State, unemployment has been a challenge.

Aikulola urged members of the Group to identify the gaps and possible solution whhile vbe passionate and make value-added contributions, as well as utilise their wealth of experience, to help solve the challenge of unemployment

He charged them to submit their report within one month.

 Also speaking, Special Assistant to the Governor on Job and Employment Creation, Mr. Abiola Odetola said the Labour Market Information System would help to identify the available skillset, industrial labour needs, demographics of unemployed residents as well as tax payers and aid the growth of the residents, industries and the State government.

 Odetola added that the LMIS would stimulate more friendly policies and help government concentrate more attention to areas where skills were currently lacking.

Members of the Technical Working Group consist of relevant stakeholders as well as Directors and representatives of Agencies and the private sector including, Special Assistant to the Governor on Job and Employment Creation, Mr. Abiola Odetola, Director, Administration and Supplies, Bureau of Job Creation, Mr. Oludare Ogunjobi, Director, Bureau of Statistics, Mrs. Funmi Ogungbe, Director, Industrial Promotion, Engr. Kehinde Akintomide, Director, Investment, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Ms. Yemisi Folarin.

Others are Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Omolara Adebayo, Director, Information Technology, Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS), Mr. Wahid Akinfenwa, Bureau of Information Technology, Mrs. Olatundun Adekunte, Director Information Technology, State Education Basic Board (SUBEB), Mr. Taoheed Agboola and Council Member, Ogun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA) among others.
