A veteran labour leader , Comrade Seyi Adebanjo is seeking the suspension of the implementation of the contributory pension scheme in Ogun State which he described as a total failure in the state
Adebanjo who acknowledged the huge amount of unremmited deductions inherited by Governor Dapo Abiodun's administration, urged the governor to suspend the scheme until government was ready for implementation of the scheme
The former State Chairman of Trade Union Congress described as unacceptable the continous deductions from salaries of workers without remittance by government to the pensions fund managers , therefore making life very difficult for pensioners to enjoy their gratuities after 35 years of service to the state
Also speaking, former Chairman of Joint Negotiating Counçil, Comrade Sunday Adeegbe decried the current minimum wage which according to him, is not a living wage
Adeegbe lamented the minimum monthly pension of 5,000 still being paid to retirees on the payroll of the State Government, calling for the upward review of the minimum to reflect the reality in the economy of the country
