Abiodun Unveils Oba Adetona’s Governance Institute At OOU.


 



       

Governo Dapo Abiodun has unveiled the Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Adetona Institute for Governance Studies donated by the Paramount Ruler of Ijebu-land to the 

Ogun State owned Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, describing the Monarch’s contribution to learning and humanity as monumental.

           

Abiodun, while unveiling the Administrative Building, Lectures, and Seminar Hall of the Institute, noted that successive governments in the State had benefited from the immense wealth of knowledge and experience of the Monarch, who had been pivotal to government and governance in Nigeria.

         

The governor who was represented by the Secretary to State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, added that Awujale’s unparalleled knowledge and administrative skill were also brought to bear in the running of the institute, which he said would not rely on the university for funding, as provision for an endowment fund of over N500million had been raised for its seamless take-off.

          

Abiodun described the initiative as a worthwhile idea conceived to developing curricular towards the conferment of diplomas and degrees in governance by the University.

 

"I am not surprised at the mind-blowing investment of the Monarch who has rich knowledge about the cradle and raise to Nigeria’s nationhood having been the longest serving king in Nigeria today, and I have no doubt in my mind that this Institute will produce next generation of governance and public managers, as well as political researchers’’, he said.

          

Responding, representative of Oba Adetona, Princess (Dr.) Adetutu Adetona-Anyaegbunem said the Institute was borne out of her father’s passion for good governance and socio-political emancipation.

          

He expressed gratitude to those who contributed to the success of the project and assured them that he would continue to serve his people meritoriously.

          

Other projects constructed and funded by the paramount ruler include, Research and Scholars residence, Vice Chancellor’s lodge, among others.
