Ramadan: Muslim Group Donates Foods, Clothes To Widows, Less Privilege In Ogun

A Muslim group, Sisters of Jannah, has donated food items, clothes, and other welfare materials to widows and the less privileged in respect of the holy month of Ramadan.

The group, on Sunday, donated the welfare materials to 50 women in an Asalatu, Alubarika, at Oluwatosin Hajia Zainab Junaid Memorial Mosque Erunbe, Wasinmi area of Ewekoro local government in Ogun State.

The group coordinator for Abeokuta Zone, Sherifat Aminu, explained that the aim of the group is to give to humanity, educate and empower people, adding that it also specializes in giving out to the less privileged, as the project is one of many that is being conducted by the group every year.

According to her, the group is an international organization that also has a resident of all the 36 states in the country, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.




She said, "the Sisters of Jannah is a non governmental organization, we are resident in almost all the states of the Federation including FCT, Ogun State inclusive, we are also at the USA.

"We have programs that speaks to our objective such programs are; we do visitations, we go to prison to see the those the prisoners, we go to orphanage homes. We do mop-up programs where we mop up used items and give it to the needy, we also go to schools. 

"We give to the school children, then we also and partake in cancer awareness activities in the month of October, and in the month of Ramadan, we join faithfuls to give to the needies the little way that we can, so it is one of such activity that we are doing today in Ewekoro Community specifically Wasinmi Community where we have come to meet our Muslim faithfuls."

Speaking about the project, she explained that this one is the second phase of ramadan project as the first one took place, two weeks before this, at a community in Odeda local government.

Showing appreciation, a widow, Aishat Oyewole, who was s beneficiary explained that the program would help her in significant ways, adding that she would be relieved of some expenses.

Oyewole, who is a mother of five children, said it has been only her taking care of the children since her husband's demise, as she prayed for the group.






She therefore urged other similar Muslim groups to follow suite, adding that the program would really help many, especially the needy.

Another beneficiary, Khadijat Adebayo, who later joined the group, expressed shock reacting to the the act by the group.

In her words, "many people need this type of program, the needy, widow and children, and this is wonderful.

"People are not the same, but now that you've given them food and cloth, they can use the cloth for the Ileya Festival and whenever they are hungry, they can go for the food. Even I that I'm not a widow, I am a beneficiary, so it's very wonderful."

She also concluded with prayers, adding that whoever gives little to Allah would receive much.

The group coordinator therefore urged beneficiaries to also try to extend their hands to the needy, adding that, that is what islam preaches, love.
