A former General Secretary of National Association of Nigerian Students NANS, Comrade Azeez Adeyemi has identified various students friendly programmes and infrastructural Interventions in Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye and other tertiary institutions owned by the Ogun State Government as one major factor that would ensure massive votes from students for re-election of Governor Dapo Abiodun in this coming governorship election now shifted to Saturday, March 18, 2023
Adeyemi who is also Special Assistant on Students Affairs to the Governor, made this known to Edu-biznews in an interview on Wednesday in Abeokuta, the state capital
Governor Abiodun according to him, has implemented several initiatives and policies to improve the educational sector in the state since he assumed office in 2019.
"The administration has invested in improving the infrastructure of tertiary institutions in the state. The government has constructed new lecture halls, laboratories, and other facilities in tertiary institutions to enhance learning and research activities. Others are rehabilitation of roads leading to tertiary institutions,"he stated
The students movement leader added that the Prince Abiodun led administration implemented several scholarship programmes to support Indigent students in tertiary institutions
"Governor Abiodun's administration has implemented several scholarship programmes to support indigent students in the state. The government provides scholarships for students in tertiary institutions, as well as for students studying science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) courses", Adeyemi further stated
He added that the Abiodun's government renovated several primary and secondary schools in order to create conducive learning environment

The Special Assistant recalled the creative initiative of the State Government with the introduction of digitalized classrooms during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic which destrupted school calendar
"The administration launched the Ogun Digital Classroom initiative, which provides digital learning resources for students in the state. Under this initiative, the government provided laptops, tablets, and other learning materials to secondary school students in the state", Adeyemi said
On basic education, he stated that the Abiodun's government implemented its free Basic Education policy which led to an increase in the enrollment
"The administration has implemented the Free Basic Education policy, which ensures that all primary and secondary school students in the state receive free education. This policy has helped to increase the enrollment of children in schools in the state", Adeyemi said
According to him, ,"the administration has partnered with private sector organizations to improve the quality of education in the state. For instance, the government partnered with IBM to provide training for teachers in the state on digital literacy and other relevant skills."
Adeyemi assured students that the governor if re-elected would improve on the provision of Infrastructure in the institutions of higher learning
It is important to note that if Gov. Dapo Abiodun is re-elected, institutions of higher learning will continue to enjoy the appointment of best fits in the administration of schools which help to stabilize the internal polity of schools as well as bringing the desired developments for the institution's society,"he assured Students
