Only Thirty Thousand, Nine Hundred and Fifty-Four (30,954)candidates
representing42.16percent of the Seventy-Three Thousand, Four Hundred and Twenty-Four (73,424) candidates that sat for the second series of the 2022 Private West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE ) in Nigeria, obtained credit and above in a minimum of five(5) subjects, including English Language and Mathematics
The Head of National Office of the West African Examinations Council
(WAEC) in Yaba, Lagos, Patrick Areghan who announced the result of the examination, made this known in a statement made available to Edu-biznews on Saturday
"Of this number, Fifteen Thousand and Seventy (15,070),i.e.,48.69 percent, were male candidates,while Fifteen Thousand, Eight Hundred and Eighty-Four (15,884) i.e.,51.31percent ,were female candidates", Areghan revealed
He described the performance of the candidates who obtained five credit and above in English Language and Mathematics as marginal decrease, when compared with previous year of 2021
"The percentage of candidates in
this category in the WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2021,that is,those who obtained credit and above in a minimum of Five(5) subjects, including English
Language and Mathematics,was 48.61%. Thus, there is a marginal decrease of 6.45% in the performance over that of 2021", he stated
According to the HNO, "The results of Seven Thousand, Eight Hundredand Seventy-One(7,871), candidates, representing10.72 percent of the total number of candidates that sat for the examination,are being withheld in connection with various reported cases of examination malpractice. The cases are being investigated and reports of the investigations.will be presented to the appropriate Committee of.the Council for determination indue course"
Areghan however stated that 98.42 percent of other candidates would have their full results released to them while the results of the remaining 1.58percent could not be released for some errors on the part of the candidates
"Out of the total number of candidates that sat for the examination,Seventy-Two Thousand, Two Hundred and Sixty.Five(72,265) candidates,representing 98.42%,have their results fully processed and released"
"In contrast,One Thousand, One Hundred and Fifty.Nine(1,159) candidates,representing1.58%, have a few of their subjects still being processed due to some errors on the part of the candidates"
"However, efforts are being made to complete the processing to enable all the affected candidates get their full results" , he assured
Giving further analysis of the performance of candidates, he says
"Forty-Two Thousand, Four Hundred and Five(42,405)candidates
representing57.75%,obtained credit and above in a minimum of five(5)
subjects(with or without.English Language and/orMathematics"
He then enjoined candidates to visit the examination council website to check their results and apply for hard copies of their certificates
Candidates who sat for the examination should visit www.waecdirect.org to check
their results.
Candidates will also be required to apply for hardcopies of their certificates online through the WAEC Certificate Request Portal.(e-Certman)website:https://certrequest.waec.ng/.They can also access, shareand download their digital certificates online by visiting www.waec.orgonce to get the hard
copies of their certificates
