The flag bearer of All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Ahmed Tinubu seems to be coasting home to victory in the last Saturday February 25,2023 Presidential Poll in Nigeria, even as three other major opposition political parties are calling for cancellation for what they described as irregularities in the conduct of the poll
The APC candidate who scored over 8.1 million votes extended his lead on Tuesday after winning Rivers State one of the four remaining states to complete the process at the National Collaboration Centre in Abuja
Tinubu polled 231,593 votes to beat his closest rival at the poll in the state, Peter Obi of the Labour Party who scored 175,555 votes.
Prior to the final collation, the APC candidate had polled 148,979 votes, while the LP candidate polled 169,414 votes , until final result from Wike’s LGA of Obio-Akpor came in which drastically changed the figures
Meanwhile the Vice President Candidates, Sen. Datti Baba-Ahmed of the Labour Party (LP) and Ifeanyi Okowa of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have asked the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to conduct fresh poll
The duo on Tuesday at a media briefing held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, accused INEC of breaching the law by not uploading the election results to its online portal.
They described the elections as “a sham”, and that it was “neither free nor fair”.
“Results were not transmitted to the from the polling units — non-compliance with mandatory statutory requirement,” Okowa states on behalf of both parties.
