Ogun Water Corporation To Restore Supply Soon In Abeokuta- Govt Assures Customers




Ogun State Government has assured that the State Water Corporation would soon restore regular supply of potable water to its customers in Abeokuta, the State capital, following completion of the major rehabilitation and reconstruction of water treatment plant and reservoir projects

Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Water Resources, Engr. Adekunle Otun who gave the assurance on Tuesday during a live programme on Rockcity101.9 Fm in Abeokuta monitored by Edu-biznews, said that the supply would be restored on completion of the ongoing test running of facilities installed at the newly the rehabilitated treatment plant at the major water scheme in Arakanga  and the reconstructed water reservoir at Oketemidire off Abiola way area of the city 

He revealed that the reconstructed water reservoir had been expanded with a storage facility to accommodate as large as 14.5 million litres of volume of water while the pipelines were also replaced with large size to meet the needs of the increasing population of residents in Abeokuta

According to him, prepaid meters had already been installed in 11,000 house holds within the city, preparatory to the take off of the restoration of water supply to customers

He assured customers of pocket friendly rate when the water supply is fully restored to them 

Otun pleaded with residents to bear with the Prince Dapo Abiodun's administration who had taken the pain to take holistic approach to addressing the problem of water supply through heavy  investment  on the water infrastructure by replacing the inherited decayed facilities for many years including seriously damaged pipelines caused by the roads expansion projects initiated by the immediate past Ibikunle Amosun's administration which distrupted water supply to customers in Abeokuta for than eleven years till date 

The Special Adviser assured that the government would also address similar water shortage affecting other major towns, including Ijebu-Ode, Sagamu, Ota and Ilaro after the commissioning of the newly  completed water projects in Abeokuta by Governor Abiodun
