Ogun State Government has partnered with an International Senior Lawyers’ Project and law firm Alston & Bird LLP, based in the United Kingdom UK, as part of the steps being taken to build capacity of its Commercial Lawyers in the Ministry of Justice and personnel in the office of Puplic-Private Partnership, so as to address the infrastructure gap existing in the state.
The training programme supported by A4AID, Role UK and UK Aid, focuses on infrastructure development, legal drafting and private sector financing to enhance the delivery of ambitious and income generating projects for the State’s economic prosperity.
Speaking at the training, the Director-General Ogun State Office of Public Private Partnerships, Mr. Dapo Oduwole expressed satisfaction with the level of quality and content of training
He added that such first class in-house legal and project management skills training would equip personnel with the required human capacity to enable them deliver the needed current and future infrastural projects for the growth of the state's economy
“The Office of Public Private Partnerships with support from the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Finance and all MDA’s continues to spearhead this administration’s PPP projects across the senatorial districts in the state with requisite expertise and partnership working with the private sector", Oduwole stated
"This development boosts investor confidence and makes Ogun State a destination of choice for local national and international private investors", he noted.
In his remark, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ogungbade said the Office of Public-Private Partnership was created by the present administration to effectively cater for investments and partnerships with a view to identifying with serious investors and business owners as part of efforts to provide catalyst for socioeconomic growth and development for wealth creation, job opportunities and revenue base improvement.
Also, Senior Legal Programme Officer, International Senior Lawyers Project, Eniye Ogbebor revealed that collaboration was to provide pro- bono services for economic development
Ogbebor added that they had been able to develop initiatives on the effective use of Public Private Partnership (PPP), through the PPP Office and the Office of the Attorney-General in the state as the team is determined to offer international standard legal services that would achieve desired results and attract more local and foreign direct investments and partnerships to the state.
