Ogun State Government has produced development guide plans, to ensure orderliness of structures and control of haphazard and illegal developments in government committed acquisition areas.
The State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Town Planner Olatunji Odunlami who made this known at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, during the presentation of the document, said that the lack of pre-existing masterplan for most of the government acquisition areas had led to the depletion of the environment by producing slums and blights areas
Odunlami stated that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration remained committed to creating an orderly, planned and serene environment conducive for corporate and individual prosperity.
His words, “the areas we are producing development guide plans for are within one acquisition or the other, where people have built haphazardly without public infrastructures such as roads, health centers, public schools, police posts, recreation areas and open spaces. The development guide plans aim to introduce a measure of orderliness into these communities”.
Also speaking, the Programme Director and Consultant to the Governor on OLARMS, Mrs. Oyindamola Oyelese, said the information captured in the plans would ensure that CofOs and other documents were granted to buildings properly sited, revealing that illegal structures obstructing waterways, under high tension, among others would be treated accordingly.
In their presentations, the Principal Partners, ASA Town Planning Services and Advocacy Consultants and Kadiri Associates Limited, Town Planner Stephen Adewolu and Town Planner Waheed Kadiri respectively, submitted that the population push from Lagos had led to an increase in the development of several boundary areas, such as Mowe, Ibafo, Orimerunmu and Aseese areas which necessitated a need for planning intervention by the government.
