Ogun State Government has revealed its partnership with a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Princess Royal Frontiers to organise the maiden edition of the Ogun Waterside Seafood and Fish Festival, to further open up vast investment and tourism opportunities available in the Ogun Waterside Local Government Area, as well as other riverine areas in the State to investors.
The State Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe made this known in Abeokuta, while addressing media men after a meeting with relevant stakeholders on the hosting of the festival
She stated that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration was determined to host the festival and aid the growth of businesses across the State.
Longe added that the festival would give entrepreneurs involved in the processing and marketing of fish and other fish products to expose them to local and international markets, adding that the government would also provide capacity building for entrepreneurs within the area.
Also speaking, Special Adviser to the Governor on Industry, Trade and Investment, Chief Remi Ogunmefun said the event had the potential to aid development of the people of the Local Government Area, noting that the government would continue to provide an enabling environment for laudable initiatives.
In her address, the Convener, Ogun Waterside Seafood and Fish Festival and Chairperson, Princess Royal Frontiers, Princess Abioye Philips said the focus of the festival was to promote the investment potentials in Ogun Waterside, boost exports, stimulate wealth creation and market the cultural heritage of the people to the world and boost the socio-economic development of the people.
She said the festival would include training on fish preservation and processing, traditional dance, regatta, pageantry and help attract investors, as well as provide market linkages for many entrepreneurs involved in fish business within the area.
