Six players including Salami Yusuff, Adeyemi Olamide, Samson Adedeji, Bamgboye Joseph, Oyetayo Funmi and Aliyat Adedeji have emerged successful at the recently concluded trial organized by the Ogun Table Tennis Association, to select those to represent the state in the forthcoming 21st National Sports Festival slated for Delta State later in the year
Media Officer of the association,Bayo Adegboyega who made this known in a statement, said that the trial was held under the supervision and tutelage of the Head Coach, Risi Ramoni and her assistant, Coach Alaba Amusa
He added in the statement that eleven players took part in the trial held at the indoor sports hall, Alake Sports Centre, Ijeja, Abeokuta last Tuesday, September 27, 2022.
The Chairman of the Association, Chief. Mrs Awawu Yekinni Toriola according to him, spoke with the players on video from her base in the United States of America and urged them to be good ambassadors of the Gateway state when the festival gets underway in Delta State.
Similarly, the Patron of the Association, United Kingdom based Chief Gbenga Abijo commended the process and assured of his support
He also charged the Ping Pong players to be worthy representatives at the event.
The exercise was witnessed by former Table Tennis player who is now a member of the Association, Mr. Kole Aluko and Mr. Sikiru Mustapha.
The 2022 National Sports Festival tagged "Delta 2022" will hold between November 27 and December 10, 2022.
