India 2022 FIFA U-17 Worldcup: Flamingoes Crash Out To Columbians

Nigeria's Flamingoes have finally crashed out of the ongoing FIFA Women Under 17 Worldcup in India, after their 5-6 penalties loss to Colombian cadet side in a semi-final match played on Wednesday

The Nigerians played more possessive football in the opening half of the tension soaked match but could not breakthrough the Colombians who came in forcefully in the second half, creating chances particularly in the late minutes through Yesica Munoz who was denied by Faith Omilana in goal for the West African side

Opeyemi Ajakaye who replaced Tunmininu Adesina had earlier failed to put Nigerian cadet side ahead in the 52nd minute when Luisa Agudelo prevented the ball into going into the Colombians' net

Both sides went into penalty shootouts after the regulation time ended in a goalless

Edet Offiong, Etim Edidong, Miracle Usani, Taiwo Afolabi and Shakirat Oyinlola converted their spot kicks for Nigeria while both Omamuzo Edafe and Comfort Folorunsho failed to convert their kicks

For the Colombian side, Gabriel Redriguez, Stefanin Perlaza, Mary Espitaleta, Linda Caicedo, Juana Ortega and Natalie Hernandez converted their penalties while Yesica Munoz missed her kick for the South Americans

The Flamingoes will now take on the losers between Gemans and Spanish girls in the second final, the final of the competition holds on Sunday
