Ogun Water Corp.To Restore Supply Soon In Abeokuta, Other Towns - Govt Assures Customers





Ogun State Government has assured customers  that the State Water Corporation would soon overcome the major challenge of shortage of  potable water supply in Abeokuta and other major towns  of the state, when the ongoing rehabilitation of the major treatment plant is completed 

Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties and Water Supply, Engr. Kunle Otun who gave the assurance while fielding questions from journalists in Abeokuta, says the rehabilitation is now 85 percent complete and will be ready for utilisation by December 2022.

He revealed that the plant had been upgraded from 82 million liters to a double capacity of 162 million liters per day.

Engr. Otun added that approval for the expansion and upgrade of water facilities was given by the Governor, Dapo Abiodun, to cater for expanded communities and anticipate absorption of those that would spring up in the nearest future.

 The Special Adviser said the current administration had also cited a 14,500 cubic meter reservoir, which was being constructed at Oke-Temidire in Abeokuta South Local Government Area of the State, for a massive gravity distribution of potable water supply to various communities in the area.

The Governor’s aide pointed out that a lot of activities were ongoing by State Water Corporation on reticulations and pipe laying, which could easily be sited in Obantoko area and its environs

“With what the government has been able to achieve so far in the water sector, there will be a working system to distribute water to more communities in Abeokuta”, a thing of the past, as the major treatment plant which is under rehabilitation is now 85 percent complete and will be ready for utilisation by December 2022", he promised
