Ogun Sets To Celebrate 2022 World Tourism Day



Ogun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism will join the rest of the world this Tuesday, the 27th of September, 2022 to celebrate the 45th edition of World Tourism Day 

This year's celebration which has as a  themed: “Rethinking Tourism” will hold  at the Hubert Ogunde Hall, June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta by 10.00 am.

The State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon, Adijat Adeleye-Oladapo who made this known in a statement made available to Edu-biznews on Friday,  says  Governor Dapo Abiodun will be the Chief Host, while stakeholders in the Tourism sector and the general public are expected to grace the occasion.

According to Adeleye-Oladapo, the occasion will feature paper presentations from veterans in the tourism industry, drama sketches by the State cultural troupe and dance performances by different cultural and drama groups.

She said the Day had been designated by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), to foster the awareness of tourism's social, cultural, political, and economic value, as well as its contribution toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Commissioner said ‘’the theme for the year would showcase tourism's unique ability at ensuring that nobody is left behind as the world begins to open up again and look to the future’’.
