Male Secondary School Students Protest Over Move To Separate Them From Female In Bauchi




Several Male Secondary School students on Monday in Bauchi State staged a protest against  a new policy introduced by the State Government which  separates them   from their female classmates 

The protest by students from different Secondary Schools within Bauchi metropolis disrupted commercial activities ,as they marched along major streets to the Emir’s Palace and the headquarters of the ministry to register their displeasure over the policy 

The students were seen displaying  placards with various inscriptions against the new education policy  which according to them, is  retrogressive to education in the 21st century  

Some of the students who spoke to newsmen , berated the State Ministry of Education for introducing such policy, saying it portray them as immature people 

They added that it would make them to lag in the area of social interaction insisting that they should be part of the decision that affect them . 

The protesting students, however  appealed  to Governor Bala Mohammed, to look into the issue and reverse the policy  to the old co-educational system which to them allows for  social interaction

The State Commissioner for Education, Aliyu Tilde had  during recent  interaction with journalists after the State Executive CounƧil's meeting, announced the decision  separating male and female students in all secondary schools in the state.

The commissioner noted that it would only be executed whenever and wherever it was possible.

He  also urged private schools to consider the implementation of the policy 

The State Government through its  Ministry of Education published that the male and female students in secondary schools across the state will be separated while academic activities for the 2022/2023 session start on Monday, September 26, 2022.
