Ogun State has again emerged as the overall Best-performing State and Exhibitor at the recently concluded International Arts and Crafts (INAC) Expo in Abuja, clinching the top positions in the categories of Product Design in Pavillion, Textiles, Fabric and Fashion as well as Metal and Brass Works, ahead of
Lagos in the second position, Kastina, Bauchi, and the Federal Capital Territory in the joint third position respectively.
The state team consolidating on its first position recorded at the 14th edition of the Expo last year, finished as the Most Enterprising Exhibitor, and Special Award for State Day
Speaking after receiving the awards at the closing ceremony of the 3-Day Expo, themed: "Networking Nigerian Crafts to the World", the Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Olusegun Olaotan said the State would continue to set the pace in culture with creativity being introduced by Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration in the state
Olaotan noted that the innovative acumen of the Governor in e-marketing and promotion of Adire fabric had boosted the economic status and foreign investment opportunities in the State, which had enhanced small and medium-scale enterprises.
The Permanent Secretary expressed gratitude to Prince Abiodun for his support to the culture and tourism sector, commending the State contingent for their cooperation and selfless effort. He assured that the Ministry would not rest on its oars in performing its responsibilities toward achieving the “Building Our Future Together” agenda of the present government.
Speaking earlier, the Director General, National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Otunba Segun Runsewe said the Expo had participants from 11 States of the federation and 26 countries across the world
Runsewe added that the Expo had created various opportunities for trade and investment, promoted greater integration and synergy among players in the sector, as well as provided platforms for entrepreneurs to showcase their goods and services.
According to him, INAC promotes peace, social integration, national unity, and international cultural diplomacy through appropriate collaboration with members of the diplomatic communities in Nigeria.
