Ogun Govt Moves To Protect Ibara Correctional Facility Against Jail-Break

Ogun State Government has
cleared the surroundings of the Ibara Correctional Centre, to prevent it from being used as  hide-outs for hoodlums and miscreants, as well as discourage possible Jail-Break and other nefarious tendencies around the facility.

The State Commissioner for. Physical Planning and Urban Development , Town Planner Olatunji Odunlami  speaking with newsmen in Abeokuta, explained that the move was part of the agency’s responsibility to monitor and secure public infrastructures against threats and danger.

The Commissioner stated that the recent clearing of abandoned and dilapidated structures, and forest-like growth around the Centre, was necessitated by a ‘Save Our Soul’ letter received from the Nigerian Correctional Service, Ibara  Centre, due to recent attacks on government critical infrastructures across the country.

Odunlami added that the Ministry also got rid of dilapidated and abandoned structures of the old secretariat at Oke-Ilewo, which had been taken over by trees and thick foliage, saying “the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration will continue to take proactive measures towards ensuring the safety of lives and property”.
