Maiden Egba Unity Cup U-13 & U-15 Football Tourney Kicks-off Aug.23



A maiden Egba Unity Cup, under 13 and Under 15male football competition being jointly organized by the Egba Football Union (EFU) in collaboration with Egba Sports Development Initiative (ESDI) will Kick-off on the 23rd of August at the  Muda Lawal Stadium in  Asero, Abeokuta,, the Ogun State capital

Ahead of the commencement of the age grade competition, registration of the teams for the tournament holds daily by 10:00am at the Muda Lawal Stadium in Asero while the exercise  is expected to  close on the.19th of August, 2022

Each of the six Local Government Areas namely Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, Ewekoro, Ifo, Obafemi-Owode and Odeda making up the Ogun Central Senitorial District are expected to present two teams for both the screening and draws  which hold  on the 22nd of August at 10:00 am at the same venue

According to the organizers' time table made available to Edu-biznews, preliminaries among teams in various groups hold daily by 9:00 am  between 23rd and 25th of August while the semi-finals are slated to hold on the 29th of August as from 9:00am daily at the same venue

The organizers added in the time-table that the third place match would be played on the 30th of August by 10:00 at the same-venue:  Muda Lawal Stadium 

Also there will be special seminar for football coaches on 31st of August at the MKO Abiola International Stadium while grand-finale of the competition holds on the 1st of September, 2022 at the Muda Lawal Stadium in Asero Abeokuta

EFU which comprises of football administrators and coaches  explained that the aim of the competition was to reposition grassroots sports development and discover and nurture rising Stars to stardom in the near future

The Egba Football Union is using the competition to rally support from stakeholders including well-meaning individuals and sportlovers from Egbaland  to assist in the repositioning of grassroots sports in Egbaland
