Abiodun Inspects Roads in Abeokuta Metropolis...Says Repair Works To Begin Soon On Oke Ejigbo-Isale Ake Roads

Ogun State Government is set to begin reconstruction works in the next two weeks on Oke-Jigbo- Isale-Ake road, one of the strategic roads in the Abeokuta South Local Government Area of the State

Governor Dapo Abiodun gave the assurance  during his  on-the-spot assessment of the dilapidated road, acknowledging the importance of the road to the economic life of residents and the state in general.

The governor who appealed to residents and commuters along the road to be patient, said his administration would ensure that the suffering on the Oke-Jigbo road becomes a thing of the past very soon.

"I want to appeal to you not to be angry with our administration, our government has only been in power for three years and three months, and what we met on ground is very huge, as we are reconstructing roads in Abeokuta, we are also doing same across the state, Abiodun stated .

"I am assuring you that after we did Kemta-Idi-Aba, Elite, Adigbe, Fajol, Obantoko-Gbonogun, Kuto and the Sagamu-Abeokuta expressway,.among many others, it is now the time of Isale-Ake to Oke-Jigbo-road, I want you to be patient," he pleaded.

The governor  also says his administration is presently working on a plan that will take good care of widows in the local government, adding that youths in the local will not be left out.

"For all our aged in this local government, we are planning something for you, since you can not get appointment or even contracts, I want to assure you that we are on the verge of giving them something.

"Even our youths, we are not leaving you behind too, we have a plan for you too, be patient," the governor added.

Abiodun who also visited the Sawmill-Iporo-Ake road which was constructed by the administration Olusegun Osoba, promised that work would commence in earnest on the failed box culvert.

On the Saje-Elega road in the Abeokuta North Local Government area of the state, Abiodun assured the residents and commuters that his administration would soon embark on the reconstruction of the road.

While querying the rationale behind the construction of the Mokola junction flyover by the immediate past administration, the governor, however, pledged that his administration as part of its plans to alleviate the sufferings of the people plying the road, would ensure the completion of the abandoned flyover

"I have thought about this bridge, I just don't understand why the immediate past administration constructed it, but because the bridge was constructed using the tax you all paid, we have to complete it, God will help us.

"All the roads beneath this bridge to Iberekodo to Elega, Ilugun and Ago-Odo would be completed, we will begin work on the road as soon as possible," he said.

The state helmsman who also urged women in the local government to embrace the Oko'owo Dapo Empowerment Scheme, said that widows and the aged would also benefit from his administration.

He also added that about 1,000 youths would benefit from a special programme where they would be earning a stipend on a monthly basis.

In their respective remarks, residents of the areas, Mrs. Nuratu Adaradenu and Razaq Oyekunle, commended the governor for embarking on the assessment of the road, pleading with him to put an end to their sufferings as a result of the bad condition of the roads
