Ogun Govt To Begin Payment Of Gross Salary In July As Workers Resume Work On Monday





Ogun State Government is to begin payment of gross salary to its workers as from  end of July (this month), following an agreement reached with the Organized Labour for the suspension of the indefinite strike and resumption of work on Monday 4th of July, 2022 at the various government's establishments 

Chairman of the State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Emmanuel Bankole ,his counter-part in the Trade Union Congress, Comrade Akeem Lasisi and that of Joint Negotiating Council, Comrade Isa Olude and other labour leaders jointly signed the agreement after three days of series of meetings  which began on Wednesday lasted till Friday ( 1stof July,2022) of which a copy was made available to Edu-biznews on Saturday

The meeting presided over by Governor Dapo Abiodun, also agreed to release N1.5billion in the next 30days for the commencement of payment of the 21 months unremitted deductions from the salaries of workers while the balance would be spread across six months not later than 31st of December, 2022

On the Contributory Pension Scheme, it was agreed that an ad-hoc Committee will be set up by the State Government within two weeks to work out modalities and recommendation for the payment of the unremitted deductions

The State Government also agreed to set up within two weeks, a committee comprising of representatives of government, National Union of Pensioners and organized labour to come up recommendation for  the State on the Consequential Adjustment on the minimum wage for Pensioners

On the Consequential Adjustment On Minimum Pension, both parties agreed to set another ad-hoc Committee within two weeks, which must include representatives of government, National Union of Pensioners and organized labour to work out recommendations  for the State Government

For the clearance of gratuities, the State Government expressed its readiness to review upward the quarterly release of N500million as from the 3rd quarter of the 2022 while government agreed to pay the eight years of leave allowances to workers by harmonizing them alongside monthly salary, saying a committee will be consequently  set up to work out financial implications of the allowances to the Government

On the 2021 and 2022 Promotion exercise, both parties agreed to address the issue at the next scheduled  meeting

The State Government equally agreed with the Organized Labour for a quarterly meeting's to evaluate the implementation of the agreements, so as to ensure mutual understanding between both parties
