Gov Abiodun Commissions Largest Dairy Farm In South West





Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has commissioned Fanmilk/Danone, an integration Dairy farm sited within the Eweje Farm Institute, Odeda, in Odeda Local Government Area of the State

The diary farm believe to be the largest in South West,Nigeria, is part of the Prince Dapo Abiodun's administration agricultural road map on job creation and food security in the State 

Governor Abiodun, while speaking at the commissioning of the Farm, says  the need for sustainable agricultural development plan led to the government's partnership with Fanmilk PLC for the establishment the dairy farm and centre for training  of youths in the sustainable management of inclusive supply chain of the milk industry and other commodities used daily on the facility.

The Governor noted that his administration would sustain support for the facility,  to fastrack growth and operation of the company, in fulfillment of the State government’s goal on job creation, poverty alleviation and food security.

"We are ready and willing to facilitate more of this investment project and hereby call on all relevant stakeholders to join hands with the government, to foster accelerated climate-neutral growth, ideas incubation, innovation and sustainable development in the dairy sector and its value chain", he assured.

He commended the French Embassy for facilitating the investment and other partnership initiatives, as well as technical assistance in the State, saying the government would continue to provide a conducive environment for potential investors.

In her address, the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Madam Emmanuelle Blatmann, said the project was a success story, which is a result of passion, commitment and partnership on the part of government and Fanmilk/Danone company, saying it would contribute to the development of the economy and locally produced milk.

Chairman of Fanmilk PLC, Mr. Olayinka Akinkugbe in his remark, lauded the State Government  for being investor-friendly, adding that the model dairy farm initiative was aimed at increasing milk production and creating jobs for the host community.

Akinkugbe stated that the organisation remains committed to meeting the nutritional needs of the people, as well as strengthening local investment, which is evidenced in the dairy training institute that has continued to build the capacity of farmers, at ensuring sustainable dairy farming in the State.

Also speaking, Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Adeola Odedina expressed delight that the project would not only support the food security policy of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration but also serve as a training ground for farmers and students alike,

He recalled that the broilers’ project, which was situated on the Eweje Farm Institute had recorded large success.
