Owu Youths Seek Divine Intervention For Emergence Of New Olowu-Abeokuta


Owu-Abeokuta Youth Forum under umbrella of the Royal Union of Owu People (ROUP) on Friday joined the Owu Muslims Community for a special prayer session, to seek the divine intervention of God in the selection process by the Owu Kingmakers and elders of the kingdom

Edu-Biznews gathered that the kingmakers had narrowed  list of nominees from the Otileta Ruling House, to seven, out of which the next Olowu will emerge to replace Late Oba Adegboyega Dosunmu who joined his ancestors on the 12th of December, 2021 at the age of 85






The youth forum led by Prince  Muhad Adedire Adetilo during the special prayer session at the Owu Central Mosque in Abeokuta, presided over by Chief Imam of Owu-Abeokuta Kingdom, Alhaji Sulaiman Akorede Kehinde, called for spiritual guidance of Allah in directing the conduct of the kingmakers, to select the best of the nominees for the people of Owu-Abeokuta 

"God grant our leaders, Balogun Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo, Akogun Isola Akinsipo, Chief M. Ola Yussuf, Chief Doja Adewolu, Chief Niyi Adegbenro, Chief Ekundayo Opaleye, Iyalode Adenike Lawal and  the Oganla of Owu kingdom, Johnson Olu-Fatoki and others, divine guidance and favour to select the very best among the top candidates selected for the vacant stool (Olowu Abeokuta)", the youth group stated 

The Owu youths leaders including the General Secretary, Omidan Abolanle Olumide Motayo asked for special prayer that would lead to successful completion of the ongoing selection exercise

They urged the nominees to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship and accept the outcome of the process in the interest of Owus, to ensure harmony in the kingdom

"We advise all the selected nominees from Otileta Ruling House, whose it is their turn to elect an Oba, to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship, and always give room for love and harmony to continue ensuring peaceful co-existence among the good people of Owu Kingdom, Abeokuta.",they pleaded 

The youths who initiated the prayer session in collaboration with Owu Muslims Community, sounded it clear that they were not sponsored by any of the interest groups in the Obaship race, calling on the kingmakers  to ensure fairness and justice in choosing the new Olowu for the people 

"We also encourage our profound kingmakers to continue the great task with the spirit of fairness and justice to ensure the expected undiluted selection process that will eventually lead to the successful end within a short while"

"We prayed to have an Oba who will prioritize the love of his subjects, especially the youths and be accessible to all and sundry, just as we had in the past", they concluded

The Chief Imam during sermon at the Jumah service , stressed the need for Owus and Kingmakers to seek for the guidance of Allah, saying only God can  determine who becomes the next Olowu


A Christian special prayer session will hold this Sunday at the Owu Baptist Church,Tootoro , Abeokuta at 10am
