The Awijako of Ijako-Orile Land in Yewa-North Local Government Area of Ogun State, Oba (Revd) Mathew Alabi Ewedairo has alleged threat to his life by suspected land grabbers over entire landed property in Aga Olowo in the Ewekoro Local Government Area near Abeokuta which belongs to the ancestral home of Ijako-Awaye people
Oba Ewedairo who raised the alarm on Wednesday during a news conference in Abeokuta, disassociated himself and the Ijako-Awaye Community from a suit filed on 22nd of December, 2021on behalf of the community by Oseni Ajayi, Yusuf Ajibawo and Akanni Ewedairo-Lawal before Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta
He appealed to Governor Dapo Abiodun and the State Commissioner of Police to come to his rescue and prevent the threat from being accomplished by his destractors who have been having running battle with him since 2012 when he was Baale before ascending the throne in 2021
The trio in the application before the court against Oba Adio Kusoro, Ahmed Ogunjobi, Solomon Olajonrin,Fatai Durodola ,Aremu Oderinde and Dayo Ogunyinka are asking for N20million damages for alleged contravention of their fundamental rights
They are also seeking the order of the court to restrain respondents, their agents, officers, servants and privies from further humiliating, embarrassing, inviting, arresting or detaining the applicants or any member of the Ijako Community in respect of the landed property
But The Awijako of Ijako-Orile claimed not to be aware of the suit as prescribed authority , saying those who filed the suit in court on behalf of the Ijako-Awaye are not known to the community
Oba Ewedairo alleged that those behind the application including one Oseni Ajayi whose ruling family contested the throne with him, connived with suspected land grabbers to attempt to take over possession of the said land through the backdoor by seeking the order of the court without the knowledge of community which is part of his domain as traditional ruler
The monarch added that his life had been under constant threat by his rivals whom he claimed are working with suspected land grabbers to take over possession of landed property belonging to his people in Ijaiye Awaye
Oba Ewedairo who revealed how he escaped being killed by his rivals to the throne, however said he would take the next line of action after conclusion of consultation with the Assistant Police Commissioner in Ayetoro Area Command and his lawyer
The monarch was accompanied at the news briefing by his top chiefs including Oluwo of Ijako, Oderinlo Akanni, Baale of Afari-Ijako, Chief Akibu Olaleye, Ajagunna Chief Olumide Oderinlo , Asiwaju Salako Ibrahim, Baale Ajibawo, Chief Bashiru Gbadamosi, Aare of Ijako-Orile, Chief Akintunde Mojeed, Apeena of Ijako-Orile,Chief Amoo Shakira Sobiye and Agba-Akin of Ijako-Orile, Chief Wale Junaid
