Ogun State Government has assured philanthropists and private organizations of continous support to further create an enabling environment for teaching and learning in schools.
The Special Adviser to the Governor Dapo Abiodun on Primary and Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo gave the assurance during the commissioning of a block of three classrooms, renovated by Omidiya’s family at Akesan Community Grammar School (Senior), Iperu-Remo in Ikenne Local Government Area.
Mrs. Soyombo pointed out that education is a vital component of the present administration's five points agenda in the attainment of its policy on wealth creation and sustainable economic growth, adding that “the era when impartation of knowledge is done in crowded and stressful classes has become a thing of past in the State.
The Special Adviser reiterated the desire of the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration in the provision of basic amenities in schools across the State, saying "the Public-Private Partnership initiative of our government is not just to create a rewarding partnership between public and private sector of the economy for social and economic infrastructural development only, but also to forge a sense of common purpose and shared objectives", she submitted.
In his address, the Chairman, Ikenne Local Government, Hon. Olusegun Ogunleye who commended the donor for the support, urged the school management and teachers to remain committed to their jobs for anticipated academic excellence.
Earlier in her speech, the Vice Principal of the School, Mrs. Victoria Talabi stated that the renovated classrooms would give succour to the students and help them excel in their studies, calling on other well-spirited individuals in the society to emulate the gesture.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr. Mofopefoluwa Joseph said the generosity was borne out of the spirit to give back to the society and in commemoration of the remembrance of their late father, Pa Nurudeen Omidiya.
