NSCPC Seeks Ogun Assembly Intervention, To Prevent Loss Of Lives In Schools



A Non Governmental Organization, National School Crimes Prevention Corps NSCPC has called for urgent Intervention of the Ogun State House of Assembly to prevent loss of lives in public primary and secondary schools, particularly among teachers and principals who are under constant threat from pupils

Commandant of the corps, Ige Folayinka who led other top officials on a courtesy visit to the State House of Assembly in Oke-mosan Abeokuta, made call on Tuesday, asking the lawmakers to initiate a enabling law to address the worrisome trend where pupils attack others including teachers with charms and other dangerous weapons

Folayinka  revealed how some of the pupils attacked teachers , making reference to a mathematics teacher who was rescued by the corps at Igboore High School in Abeokuta, the state capital

The Commandant who solicited for support of the house in facilitating deployment of government's apparatus to tackle the ugly situation , said that the corps had visited over 500 schools in Ifo, Sagamu, Abeokuta and across the country, arresting pupils caught in acts of cultism, ritual killings, raping and other vices and handing them to the police while rehabilitating some of the Culprits

 Also speaking Commandant /Provost  of College of Security Management of  the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, Richeal Awosusi stressed the important role of the National School Crime Prevention Corps at tackling insecurity in schools in the state, appealing for moral and financial support to assist the corps in the fight against crime in schools

Speaker of the house,Right Honourable Olakunle Oluomo while resp onding, assured the corps that a Security Summit would be organized to address various problems of Insecurity in schools

Oluomo who lauded the efforts of NSCPC in crime prevention in schools across the state, explained that the summit would bring stakeholders in education sector and security agencies to proffer solutions to the disturbing trend of crimes among pupils
