Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos has once again been ranked as the number one polytechnic in Nigeria for third consecutive period, according to the latest ranking released by Webometric for January 2022.
YabaTech had finished in the top spot in in the ranking earlier released by the global rating Institution in January to June 2021 and sustained ranking as the best polytechnic in another result released for July to December 2021period before the latest released January 2022 to July 2022, making the polytechnic, the first institution in the Polytechnic sector to achieve the feat in the country
A statement made available to Edu-Biznews from the Public Relations Office on Tuesday, attributed the achievement to the charismatic and visionary leadership of the rector, Engr. Obafemi Omokungbe, the academic staff who continuously on daily basis publish quality academic papers for publication, Staff of the Centre for Information Technology and Management (CITM), who toll day and night to see that the College maintain the number one spot and the entire Students of the institution at large.
Webometrics ranking is based on Web contents Impact, top-cited researchers, and papers published on research and publication platforms online.
It is a Ranking of Higher Institutions of Learning which uses both webometric and bibliometric (research) indicators.
The primary objective of the Ranking Web is to promote Open Access to the knowledge generated by Institutions.
Yabatech which pride itself as the cradle of higher learning and the polytechnic of first choice, has been able to implement strategies to improve her ranking through the increase in the quantity and quality of the web content according to the release
Ranking Web started in 2004 (this is the 19th year of publication) with the aim to offer full coverage of Higher Education Institutions whatever the country or discipline involves. Currently ranked are 31, 000 HEIs from more than 200 countries.
