We Will Resist Attempt To Take Over Forest Reserves -Ogun Govt Tells Illegal Occupants

Ogun State Government has vowed to resist any attempt by those it described as illegal occupants to take over forest reserves and destroy economic trees in the state

The State Commissioner for Forestry, Hon. Tunji Akinosi made this known in Abeokuta, during a meeting with top management staff of the Ministry and forest guards, following incessant attack by illegal occupants against forest guards  in the forest reserves,

He said that  government would continue to ensure the safety of its forest guards to forestall incessant attacks on them in the forest reserves.

Akinosi  assured that  government would no longer fold its arms and watch hoodlums take over the reserves.

His words, “Gone are those days when hoodlums and other antisocial elements will be having a field day in our forest reserves. Everything will be put in place to ensure the safety of our officers who are often attacked in the cause of performing their duties.”

The Commissioner cautioned  the guards against compromising on issues that could tarnish their image, urging them to  always take precautionary measures whenever they were attacked.

Responding on behalf of other guards, Mr. John Ogunlowo applauded the Commissioner and management staff of the Ministry for their unflinching support in the course of performing their duties.

He acknowledged that the tasks ahead were enormous, saying they would continue to do all that was necessary for the State government to achieve its objective in the reserve and other afforestation projects.
