Reverse Confirmation Of Ogungbade As Attorney General- NNPP Asks Ogun Assembly

New Nigeria People's Party NNPP has asked Ogun State House of Assembly to reverse its earlier confirmation of Mr.Oluwasina Ogungbade as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, pending his presentation of Discharge Certificate issued to him by the National Youth Service Corps NYSC

The State Chairman of NNPP, Comrade Olaposi Oginni made the call in his letter to the Right Honourable Speaker of the house, Olakunle Oluomo, dated 21st of January,2022 obtained by EduBiznews, in which the party requested for an update on the NYSC Certificate of Ogungbade whom the party accused of failing to present his Discharge Certificate for the  Mandatory National Service to the Assembly during his screening on the 25th of November, 2021  for the office of Attorney General and Comnissioner of Justice in the State Executive Council

The Commissioner according to the party in its letter to the speaker, could not also produce "To Whom May Be Concerned", a document claimed to have been issued to him by NYSC on completion of the service in 2002, which he claimed was destroyed in a fire incident

"It is on record that during the screening exercise conducted by the Ogun State House of Assembly for the aforementioned as the nominee of the Governor for the exalted Position of Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, he was unable to produce his NYSÇ Discharged Certificate.", the letter stated 

 

"He later claimed, through an affidavit deposed on the 25th of November,2021 after the screening and confirmation exercise", the party added in the letter

NNPP rejected the claim of Ogungbade that the Discharge Certificate is still with with NYSC and that "To Whom May Be Concerned" document issued was destroyed in fire incident 

The party described the affidavit sworn to by the commissioner as after thought, saying such affidavit can not be replacement for the original NYSC Discharge Certificate said to have been issued to Ogungbade on completion of his primary assignment with 

Ebun Olu - Adegboruwa Law firm in Igbosere, Lagos between 2001 and 2002 

Edu-Biznews obtained another letter written by the party and acknowledged by the Office of Director General of NYSC in Abuja dated 18th of January, demanding for update on retrieval of Ogungbade's original Discharge Certificate

Also affidavit obtained by EduBiznews and sworned to by  Ogungbade, quoted him  to have said the said as follows 

That he served at Lagos Island LG as a Youth Corper.

ii. That his Primary assignment was with Ebun Olu - Adegboruwa Law firm in Igbosere, Lagos

iii That after passing out exercise in 2002 he was unable to get his NYSC Certificate because he was told that his Certificate has been transmitted back to the NYSC headquarters in Abuja.

iv. That he was subsequently issued " TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERNED" by NYSC

vi. That the "TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERNED"was destroyed in a fire incident.

vii. That the Original NYSC Certificate is still at the NYSC headquarters in Abuja as reconfirmed by the 24th of November, 2021.

viii. That efforts are ongoing to retrieve the Original NYSC Certificate from the NYSC headquarters in Abuja.

NNPP concluded in its letter to the State Assembly that  Ogungbade's confirmation should be reversed, since he  was unable to provide the needed after a month of which such process of retrieving the original NYSC Certificate as deposed to by him in the affidavit
