Members of the Macjob Grammar School, Abeokuta Old Students Association MAGSOSA have elected new National Executive Committee to run the affairs of the association, just as the association honoured former Scribe of the Nigeria Medical Association, NMA and its past president, Dr.Adewunmi Alayaki,former National Deputy Chairman,(South) of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Alhaji Yekini Adeojo and others for their outstanding contributions to the growth and infrastructural development of the school
The association at its Annual General Meeting AGM held on Saturday at the School's hall donated by the 1967 set , elected Mr. Kunle Ogundele as President, Matron Kemi Masaku (2nd Vice President), Mr. Biodun Babajide (Secretary) and Bolatito Ayorinde(Treasurer)
Other members of the executive include Mr. Segun Adebesin (Public Relations Officer), Seun Adebesin (Assistant Secretary), Mr.Akeem Sokunbi( Financial Secretary), Rahmat Osinowo (Welfare Officer) and Mariam Zakariyau (Auditor)
Ogundele who is the Secretary of the Ogun State Business Council, promised that the new executive would consolidate on the achievements recorded so far by MAGSOSA, in terms of provision of more physical Infrastructure in the school while assuring members of more committment of his new team in actualizing the association's set objectives
Former president of the association, Dr.Alayaki and Chief Somoye, a prominent leader and member of the 1967 set were full of praises for the immediate past executive committee for strengthened the unity among old students,as reflected in the level of participation of more sets in the 2022 AGM, which they described as most successful in the history of the association
The Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu asked the association to continue to compliment government in terms of development of more physical Infrastructure and other basic facilities in the school
Arigbabu represented by Special Adviser On Technical Education to the Governor, Prof. Joseph Odemuyiwa urged members of the association to always remember their roots, by being a good model for the students to emulate discipline and shun cultism, hooliganism and other vices bedevilling present the generation in the society
He enjoined members of the association to embrace the government's policy of abducting a school,by developing more interest in the welfare and growth of their school
High point of the AGM, was the presentation of awards to some of the members of the association for their outstanding contributions to the development of the school
The awardees include Dr. Kayode Oladehinde, a Chief Medical Director of the State Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta, his colleague and fellow member of 1984 set , Dr. Adewunmi Alayaki, a former State Chairman and one time National Secretary of NMA, Chief Gabriel .A Somoye and Chief Yekini Adeojo, both highly respected elders and member of the 1967 set, Chief Mrs Bisi Olufade, a prominent member of 1971set,
Chief Adetunji Alani Jolaoso as well as Mr Oladejo Tokunbo Bada and Mr Charles Adebayo
Other Macjobians and awardees are Sobande *'Bisoye* Gbolahan, Ekundayo Oluwagbemiga Olayori, Lateefat Abosede Fadairo, Folorunsho Abiodun Gbadamosi, Ajayi Moshood Ayoola, Ibikunle Sodipo, Okeji Olusegun, Olawale Obe and (Barr.) Benjamin Ogunmodede, a prominent lawyer and Olaniyi Sobulo ,Principal General (Egba Zone) in the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology
Also Chairman of the AGM, Dr.Alayaki supervised the launching of official sticker of the association, with various sets of the school established in 1946, launching the sticker with sums ranging between N50,000 and N5,000
Secretary of the MAGSOSA, Biodun Babajide revealed that amount raised from the launching of the sticker would be used to fund brilliant students of the school whose parents can not afford the examination fee for the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination WASSCE
A retired teacher, Mrs. Babatunde who taught Yoruba Language subject between 1981 and 1985 was also appreciated by Dr. Alayaki and Dr. Oladeinde who assured her of free medical treatment, in appreciation of her immeasurable contributions to teaching and learning in the school
