The Ogun State Alternate Medicine Board (OGAMB) has put in place necessary machinery, to fish out quacks in the practice of alternative medicine in the state
Chairman of the board, Balogun Nurudeen Olaleye made this known during 2021 end of the year stakholders meeting and review of the Board's activities during the year, held at the block D complex , Governor's Office , Oke Mosan , Abeokuta, the state capital.
According to him, the board will begin full enforcement of regulations, guiding the practice of alternative medicine in the state
He added that the enforcement would commence in third week of this January, saying that the board had put in place necessary logistics and awareness campaign programme including re-orientation training and workshop for all the practitioners across the state.
Olaleye explained that such trainings and awareness campaign would further enable them to grasp the basic guidelines as well as the Board's modus operandi for a better result.
His words" we have been working with all the necessary security Agency and held meeting with the key stakeholders on Alternate Medicine in the state. And after due consultations with all the concerned bodies from both Government and private sector a date was fixed for the enforcement which will expose those that failed to register with the board."
He further explained that part of the rules that established the board stipulates that, it must enfforce its operational laws on all practitioners in the state, which includes, registeration of members for effective monitoring, stressing that, the registration with the board is very key and important in order to develop the data base for individual practitioners and enable Board to monitor there activities.
Speaking at the meeting, Yeye Abatan Oreagba appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun for his supporting to the native healers and Traditional believers while applauding the Chairman and other members of the board for their selfless services and commiitment at ensuring that the Sub-Sector stands-out , describing the board as the best cordinated in Nigeria.
In his response, Chief Samson Soyoye , Congratulates the Ogun State Alternate Medicine Board Chairman and members for promoting the state Alternate medicine board to enviable height at any given opportunity, saying that the Board is among the front burner in the country, competing favourably with some Boards that had been established 15 to 40 years ago.
He Urged practitionals in the state to support the state plan at registering all practitioners by registering with the Board before the enforcement date.
Soyeye further appreciated the governor and the Board Chairman for promoting Alternate Medicine in the state, attracting national recognition and making it the toast of other states in the country,despite the fact that, the Board was one of the youngest and newly created Alternate Medicine Board in Nigeria
He added that the board had performed beyond expectations, pledging the practitioners full support for the board in enforcing the regulations among others initiatives aimed at sanitizing the sub-sector in achieving its set objetives in Ogun State.
