Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board says it has upgraded skills of another set of artisans to make them more relevant in their craft works and attractive for the teeming youths
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Technical Education, Prof. Joseph Odemuyiwa disclosed this while speaking in Abeokuta, at a 2-day training on skill upgrade programme for fashion designers across the State, said the move would help beneficiaries measure up with the new trend.
Edu-Biznews recalled that the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration built capacity of Artisans in various trades such as, Catering, Electrical Electronics, Phone Repair, Fabrication and Welding, among others.
Odemuyiwa noted that the world of cloth making requires creativity, saying "there is need for regular skill upgrade of artisans to remain relevant in their craft work and measure up with the trends".
Earlier in his welcome address, the Executive Secretary, Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board, Mr. Olubori Akinleye stated that the training was for development of skills and craft works, adding that the Board would not relent in taking the artisans to high pedestal.
Speaking at the training session, a resource person from Wessy Creation Institute, Mrs. Temitope Alabi pointed out that passion should be the drive of anyone willing to acquire skill, in order to promote continuity while earning profits for sustainability.
Responding on behalf of the participants, Mrs. Adeola Womiloju, applauded the State government for the programme, pledging their supports and assurance to impart the knowledge gained in youths around them.
