Ogun State Government has assured that its proposed Intra-City and inter-City Mass Transit Scheme in Abeokuta the state capital and other major towns would begin operations next year
The State Commissioner for Transport, Engr. Gbenga Dairo who made this known during the defence of his ministry before the State House of Assembly in Abeokuta on Tuesday, explained that a total budget estimate of N861million had been voted for activities of the ministry next year
He said out of the total budget, the sum of N512m was being earmarked for capital expenditure, while recurrent which included personnel and overhead would take N349m.
He added that the ministry would operationalise key road infrastructure investments and develop inter-city and intra-city mass transit schemes within the State in the next fiscal year to promote safe, efficient and affordable transport system for all the citizens and visitors to the State.
The Commissioner explained that government was set to attract investments towards rail access developments associated with Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge rail corridor.
