Ogun State Government in collaboration with its major partner, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has reviewed it's activities for the outgoing 2021 fiscal year, with the aim of projecting into the coming 2023 for better performance in the areas of healthcare delivery and women empowerment
Top officials of the ministries of Budget and Planned and that of health and women's Affairs met with government's Implementing partners in Ijebu Ode, to coordinate and review data gathered during the last one year
The meeting which reviewed part of government's last quarter activities for year 2021, charted a roadmap for more people-centric activities in the upcoming year.
The Quarterly Review Meeting which requires its Implementing Partner (IP), Ministry of Budget&Plann. and the Sub Implementing Partners from the Ministries of Health, Women Affairs and Social Development and the Ogun State Primary HealthCare Development Board to meet, deliberate and come up with proactive interventions that would help address the challenges of Reproductive Health and Data Mgt. faced in the year under review, its mitigative effort, success stories as well as future recommendations for the incoming year.
Declaring open the quarterly review meeting , the Perm. Secretary, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Dada, who acknowledged the contributions of the Prince Dapo Abiodun led-adminstration and the development partners said it has complemented hugely in the building the "our future together" agenda in the state, calling on the Sub-implementing partners to come up with an wholistic approach that would further impact the living conditions of people, irrespective of the challenges faced in the outgoing year.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Dada who joined virtually tasked the IPs on the need to have a time frame for the effective implementation of the planned activities for the upcoming year saying “I want to appreciate our amiable development partners,UNFPA and particularly our respective Sub-Implementing Partners for the smooth take-off of the year 2021 activities, as well as it’s subsequent implementation across the state”
“I call on you all as officials of government supporting the drive of the present adminstration and the UNFPA towards creating an atmosphere of quality living and enhanced livelihood for the people of the state to engage yourself intellectually and come up with viable suggestions and solutions that would have a lasting toll on the people of the state positively" she maintained.
Speaking at the programme, the UNFPA Programme Director for the state ,Mrs. Oyinlola Oyenuga admonished Sub-IPs to improve on the quality of implementation of activities and whould ensure that the principle of accountability and transparency is enshrined in their modalities of project implementation.
In a separate submissions at the event, the Gender Desk Officer from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Jumoke Sokunbi noted that the Ministry in the year under review, had intensified efforts on creating awareness on the implication of Gender-Based Violence and other societal issues
The meeting stressed the importance of the establishment of a Sexual Assault Refferal Center in Sagamu and a Gender Based Violence Response team in the three Senatorial Divisions of the state among many others.
Speaking at the meeting, Reproductive Health Logistic Officer, Ogun State Primary Healthcare Development Board, Dr. Olawale Onipede noted that the agency was able to develop a State-owned Google form to extract information on Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response (MPDSR) during Supportive Supervisory Visits(SSV), while it embarked on the inclusion of low-dose aspirin for Ante-Natal Care (ANC) routine drugs across health facilities as a means to combat pre-naltal and peri-natal deaths of pregnant women.
It also embarked on the Procurement and Distribution of Tri-cycle Ambulances to hard to reach Primary health facilities across all the local councils across the state, among many others.
Adding his voice also at the meeting, the Deputy Director, Logistic Mgt. Coordinating Unit (LMCU) in the Ministry of Health,Pharm. Olalekan Olarinde disclosed that the Unit was able to achieve a 99 percent reporting rate of ensuring security and distribution of Health commodities, prevent expiry and stock-out of Health commodities which resulted in improved health outcomes for the people of the states.
Pharmacist Olarinde, who also added that the achievements recorded by the Ministry in the year under review had made the State to be adjudged the 3rd position in the Annual Malaria Commodities Logistic Systems (MCLS) held in Nasarawa State for its innumerable strides towards the healthy living of the people of the state
