"First Person Personal:My NTA Abeokuta Story" Now On Sale




A Professor of Mass Communication at the Lagos State University, Lai Oso has lauded the initiative of pioneer staff of the Nigerian Television Authority NTA Abeokuta, Channel 12, for sharing their experiences in a book, on how they nurtured the station  to the what it is today

The book titled " First Person Personal: My NTA Abeokuta Story" ,which reflected each individual's personal and professional experience as members of the pioneer staff  of  the television station established 42 years ago by the Federal Government in Ogbe area of the Ogun State capital, was publicly presented on Saturday, October 30,2021 within the premises of the broadcastg house under the Chairmanship of Dr.Gbolade  Osinowo 
 


   


The university don reviewing the 226-page book with three chapters described it as unusual package in Literature, which reflected the Can Do Spirit,the leadership style of the pioneer staff in the making of the NTA Abeokuta  

The Communication expert  is recommending the book to Managers of media organizations to learn one or two lessons on the leadership style of running a broadcasting house even with little financial resources and how recruitment process of quality staff  should be done , to build a strong organization

Oso urged Nigerians, particularly public office holders including political appointees to take a cue from the testimonies of the pioneer staff of NTA Abeokuta, on how to get things done with little resources

"I think that what we need at organizational level and even in the nation, we need people centred leadership, such leadership will always attract good followers that will make things move"

According to him, the book stressed the importance of building strong  Institution with people who are commited to selfless service

He enjoined young media practitioners to embrace, the practice of critique of professional job done by their Colleagues to learn better from the weakness and strength of such jobs as reflected in the daily editorial meeting shared in the book





General Manager of the station, Mrs Funmi Wakama while recommending the book to students of Mass Communication in polytechnics and Universities in the country, praised the pioneer staff for keeping in touch in the past 42 years and packaging such book which stressed the need to work as team in a broadcasting organization

"They have demonstrated to us, that spirit of oneness, the team work which I've always been emphasising in most of the management meetings, you cannot work in silent, it has to be teamwork, we have to support one another, that is only way broadcasting Industry can take its pride of place", she stated

President of Pioneers Forum of NTA Abeokuta, Olalekan Ajia said the book captured their professional experiences in the industry




"There are lessons to be learnt about values, dedication, selflessness and teamwork, there are lessons to be learnt about inspirational management and abuse of authority, there are lessons to be learnt about generosity of power when you are on top"he stated

Chairman,Board of Trustees of the forum, Mrs Dupe Oladimeji, one time General Manager and Deputy Director, Programme of NTA was full of praises for the successful launching of the book

The book is now available for sale at the NTA Abeokuta premises , Ogbe in Sokori area of the city
