Amosn’s Loyalists Fail To Challenge APC Congress In Ogun

Loyalists of former  governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun appeared to have lost confident in the Appeal  Committee set up by the National CareTaker Committee/Extra –Ordinary Convention of All Progressives Congress (APC), to handle petitions arising from the conduct of the last October 16,2021 State Congress in Ogun state

The party had upheld the congress it conducted at the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Kuto, Abeokuta, where Governor Dapo Abiodun and his supporters attended while it dismissed the conduct of parallel congress organized by the  Amosun’s faction  at the Alake Palace Ground in Ake area of the city, where two senators ,Lekan Mustapha and Tolu Odebiyi from Ogun East and Ogun West  respectively as well as Minister of Steel Development, Arc.Lekan Adegbite and Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Alhaji  Sarafadeen Tunji- Ishola attended

Chairman of the Appeal Committee, Hon.Patrick Obahiagbon addressing newsmen on Wednesday  at the end of its Three-Day sitting at the Conference Hotel in Abeokuta, revealed  that  no petition was received from any of the aggrieved members who were  dissatisfied with the conduct  of the State Congress

According to him, "the non submission of petition to the committee  is an acceptance of the State Congress  supervised  by the party at the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Abeokuta, it shows there  is  nothing wrong with it and that  there is valid congress conducted in the state"

On his presence at the venue of the congress organized by the Abiodun’s group,Obahiagbon said he was at the venue authorized by the party  and that his presence had nothing to do with using  his role as Chairman of the committee  to influence the report of the committee in favour of either of the two groups

Also Secretary of the committee, Barrister Chuks Chiwuba said such visit to the venue of recognized Congress of APC, amount to nothing and that the chairman is just one of the five members of the committee and not strong enough to influence the report of the committee

Obahiagbon however insisted that the committee had been fair and thorough to every member of the party , adding  that  the committee would write its report and present it to the National Secretariat of the party for the consideration on next line of action
