Screening Of Students Into Flagship Schools Has Decongested Classrooms-Ogun Govt.

Ogun State Government says the recent screening examination into its 42 flagship schools and placement of students into other schools,has address the disturbing trend of overcrowding in classes of public schools in the state

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu who made the observation during a recent meeting with school principals at the Ministry’s conference room in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, stressed  that the decongestion would further boost academic performance of students.

His words,“The present government has been able to tackle overcrowding issues in public schools, through screening examinations into the 42 flagship schools and placement of students into other schools. I believe this will go a long way to aid teaching and learning activities”

Arigbabu urged the principals to make adequate preparation in their various schools for the 2021/2022 academic session resumption, charging them to set good examples in terms of good morals and excellent academic performance for others to emulate.

"We have brainstormed with the principals and a lot has been discussed. They are now determined to go to work and do what is expected of them. The meeting will no doubt yield positive results and part of it is an overcrowding defect in classes, which the government has tackled", he explained.

Responding, Mrs. Adeotan Abioye, Mr. Abeko Omotayo, Mrs. Adeogun Omotayo, and Mr. Odukoya Olusegun, the Principals of Methodist High School, Arigbajo, Ifo, Adeola Odutola College, Ijebu-Ode, Iganmode Grammar School, Ota, and Remo Secondary School, Remo respectively appreciated the government for steps taken so far, to address the issue of congestion of classrooms

They described it as steps taken in the right direction to tackle the problem of overcrowding, saying that the move would help immensely in developing schools and improving standard of education across the State.
