Ogun state based Remo Stars Football Club of Ikenne-Remo have finally returned to the elite Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL, after being forced to a two-all draw by Insurance of Benin on Sunday in a last match of the Southern Conference of the Super Eight second tier Nigeria National League NNL
Remo Stars were relegated from the top flight division in the 2019 season, before staging a return in the match against Insurance of Benin
Both sides had ended the opening half of the rescheduled encounter at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium in Enugu in one goal apiece
The Sky-blue Stars scored the second goal in the 65th minute of the thrilling match but the Insurance boys drew level later before the end of the encounter
The Coach Ogunmodede tutored side ended with five points behind Shooting Stars of Ibadan who emerged leaders of the Southern Conference with seven points, as they both secured their tickets in the top flight league, come next season
Insurance crashed out of the race after drawing two matches and losing to Shooting Stars, to finish in the third position with just two points while Ekiti United are at the bottom of the with just a point
