Ogun TEACh Teachers Begin Work This Session-Govt

A strong indication has emerged that the newly recruited 5,000 teachers under the Ogun Teaching Experience Acquisition Scheme (Ogun TEACh), will resume this new academic session for 2021/2022, immediately after the completion of the ongoing redistribution of teachers by the State Government in its public primary and secondary schools

There has been growing agitation among the shortlisted candidates who are have been waiting anxiously to resume in classrooms, more than three months after the completion of their oral interview, which was the last stage of the recruitment process done on June 10,2021

But the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology,Prof.Abayomi Arigbabu speaking during a programme on Rockcity FM monitored in Abeokuta by EduBiznews on Wednesday, assured the teachers of the readiness of government to absorb them into the teaching service within the next one week

His words: "We have arrangement for the 5,000 interned teachers to resume last Tuesday but we have skewed distribution of teachers in our public primary and secondary schools, we have many teachers in the city and few in the rural areas, we have distributed the teachers, the movement of teachers is expected to be completed within this week or next week, we don't want teachers on intern to cause dislocation in the system for two years"

The commissioner explained that the essence of the redistribution excercise was to ensure exact number of teachers and appropriate placement of teachers in schools were done, to determine the exact problem in terms of the existing vacancies and for which of the subjects teachers would be needed

He also said students were being redistributed particularly in the state's 42flagship schools, to reduce drastically the usual congestion in classrooms and ensure ratio of a teacher to 60 students

Arigbabu revealed that over 9,000 furniture including chairs and tables had been distributed to the public schools in the past two years of the Prince Dapo Abiodun's administration

"We are doing Students identification number to locate each of the students from primary to the senior secondary class three",the commissioner further revealed

He stressed the need for collation of adequate data for proper planning in the education sector, particularly the 42 flagship secondary schools and the entire 511 secondary schools in the state

Arigbabu promised that government would soon carry-out another round of rehabilitation of schools on completion of its ongoing data collation about the schools

He assured that the schools when fully rehabilitated would be a model for others in Nigeria

"We are looking forward to ensuring a comparable standard of our schools with private schools, we want to create conducive environment for learning and teaching in our public schools", he stated

  1. The Chairman,
    Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM),

    Dear Sir,

The Living Poor For Appointment With TESCOM

I was part of the candidates that made it to the interview stage and I scored 76 percent with evident at hand. I did not only graduated with honour (Degree in Education) but worthy in character and learning. Youth and intellect is behind me.

I am a living poor man that struggled through university education. My living world of great distress and deprivation. However, I was great deal happier when I heard the news that the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, ordered the immediate release of appointment letters to 5000 newly employed teachers under the Ogun Teach Programme (The Tribune, 25 October, 2021).

To this said news, my aged parents congratulated myself as a result of the heard news. To this day, I am floundering in miserable and hopelessness coupled with feeling of amazement dashing my hope.

Sir, it would be an injustice to pradervand to attempt to summarize the PRESS RELEASE documents of the Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin to the Governor of Ogun State, in a single paragraph.

I circled the following outline statements in the press release of the Guardian Newspaper dated 22 October, 2021 thus below:

    1. That Ogun State government announced the issuing of employment letters to newly recruited teachers into the state Teaching Service Commission programme, called OGUN TEACH.

    2. That the distribution of appointment letters would be done in batches, until all the 5000 newly employed teachers are engaged and they would be deployed to schools as soon as they finish documentation.

    3. That all successful candidates would be contacted by SMS and the list made available at the Teaching Service Commission State Secretariat.

I would speak with a reserve and a perspicacity because the Chairman of the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission, Evang. Olalekan Ifede is saddled with the responsibility to supervise the distribution of appointment letters exercise and enhancing the checks and balances necessary for the scheme to succeed.

Sir, you cannot be accused of excessive tenderness towards Prince Dapo Abiodun for the successful of this distributions.

To free the hollow heart from paining, I make an appeal on this day to your Ministry (Teaching Service Commission), that:

The distribution of appointment letters should not be done in slow pace. There should be a widely template rather than SMS to contact the successful 5000 teachers under the Ogun Teach Programme.

I would opine that the distributions should be published in the Ministry for the benefit of 5000 newly employed teachers.

    God Bless Ogun State.

    Dare Leke
